Gallery Updates!

Ok, The new Gallery is up and functioning and has some cool features that I thought I ought to make everyone aware of.

• User Registration – Now you can register your own user name in the gallery using the Register button on the top right of any of the Gallery Pages. This opens you up to a host of other cool options inside the Gallery; like…

• Shopping Cart – I’m ass-ited about this one. Now you can add galleries or pictures to a shopping cart with a click. Then you can send the whole cart to Photoworks.com and they print them out for you at the size, quality, and quantity that you specify and ship them to you! No more fistfights with purple haired Grandmonsters at Wal Mart over who gets to trash the Kodak booth next.

• User Comments system – Against my better judgement, I’ve enabled the user comments system in the Gallery so any Registered User who is logged in can leave comments on a gallery or picture. I fully expect this to quickly spiral into insanity, but what the hey… why not?

• Cel Phone Upload – I need anyone with a Nokia 3650, 6600, or any phone with Nokia Image Uploader on it to contact me for testing this out. I’m looking at adding support for more types of mobile devices, but I’m not even sure if it is possible yet. So please, If you use one of these phones, Click on the About The Author link above and get ahold of me from one of the contact links. The uploads area will be located under the Projects folder for the time being.

• Unique User Galleries – This is another project Idea. Each Registered User gets a personal photo gallery automatically created for them the first time they log in. You can upload images directly to this directory, where they can be viewed by anyone and commented on by other registered users. You can access this by clicking on the Your Album link in the top right corner of any gallery page.

The look of the Gallery may change a little bit in the near future as I play with themes, but I think the feature set is pretty solid at this point in time. I may change things up but will make sure and say something about any changes that will be permanent.
