The Urge to Attract

The very urge to attract someone, to bring another person under your emotional control, contains the potential for upsetting the balance of the relationship. That is because the feeling of being in love is bio-chemically linked to the feeling of being out of control. ~Dean C. Delis, Ph.D.

Fucking WOW!!! I love it when really smart people validate my thoughts.

As a constant student of the human animal and all the sins and songs that go along with it, I have developed a lot of my own theories. Some of them rooted in nothing more than peanut butter for all their substance, some of them rather scandalously based in fact. Thought I would share this with you.

One Response to The Urge to Attract

So, basically, wanting to attract someone is counterproductive to a relationship, because it means trying to gain control when your desired end result is feeling OUT of control.

Yeah, too weird for my way of thinking. A lot of big words to try to convince people that they know what they’re talking about. If love was so easy to catalogue, it wouldn’t be the subject of so many debates.

But just to humor you, here’s a different perspective:

Do you think love is the best feeling in the world?
Answer: It hurts. It pulls and prods and tortures you and yet you keep coming back for more. It’s an addiction that has no cure – not even death. They lied when they said love sets you free. Love makes you a slave to the whims of one single person in the entire world. Do you think that’s a good feeling? Cuz I sort of do. Because only love is reciprocated exactly in kind.

You may qoute that, if you should feel so inclined ;)
