ん! 歓迎 Sundance!!! / Buenos Dias! Bienvenidos a Sundance!

Ok so, now I am one of the translators for sundance.  how the hell did I get roped into this?  I guess it is my love of foreign cultures (women).

Fuji had a big party last night and so everyone wound up drinking about as much alcohol as could possibly be found in the state of Utah.  I saw at least 20 empty bottles of Absolut emptied and retired.  And that’s just the vodka.

Anywyas, I wandered up to some people conversating and in my broken Nihongo introduced myself and that was it.  By the end of the night some Chinese had found it’s way into my vocabulary, albeit very poorly pronounced, and one of the coordinators asked me about translating.

I of course jumped on the chance like a grenade.  So now on my lovely lapel, i have a pin that states “Nihongo o hanashimasu.”  and “Yo hablo espanol.”  I declined the chinese option as i really would have absolutely no clue what to say to them other than, “Hello,” “Very Good. I like it,” and “One more time.”  Not exactly fluent.

This isn’t really changing my job duties too much.  I still lead people, famous and average alike, like cattle.  Only now when a coworker gets a person who speaks arabic, they just point them at me, since I have a linguistics badge on.  Sheesh.

So I am hitting the slopes today and should have some fun pictures uploaded later of my travels thus far.

Translate This!
